This is an opportunity to learn how educators, educational leaders, and/or elected officials involved in education, navigated their way into the various career paths in education. There will also be small breakout groups and opportunities to network!

Panel Members:

Dr. Patricia “Denise” Lopez is Full Professor of Organizational Psychology at Alliant International University. For over 25 years, she has taught, trained and coached managers and working professionals in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Dr. Lopez has written several publications and presented on developing women and minority leaders, work motivation and employee engagement, workplace inclusion, change management, and innovation. Her bestseller book (co-authored with Dr. Pearl Hilliard) entitled “Lead, Motivate, Engage: How to INSPIRE your team to win at work”, was featured by Forbes as one of the seven books that will transform the way you communicate.    In terms of educational leadership, Dr. Lopez  served as Program Director at Alliant International University in 2012 and 2017. She also served as MBA Program Director and Associate Dean of Research at the Asian Institute of Management between 1998-2000.

Ruth Uy Asmundson is the Mayor of the City of Davis, California. She was first elected to the City Council in March 2002 and as a top vote-getter, she became mayor pro tem for 2004-06 and mayor for 2004-06. Ruth was re-elected in June 2006, once again receiving the most votes. She served as mayor until 2010. She had previously served for ten years on the Davis School Board, also as a top vote-getter in her election to the Board.
